Philanthropy

Three Mile Island is a dedicated community partner. Plant employees and its parent company, Exelon Corporation, actively support Pennsylvania's communities through financial contributions, in-kind donations and volunteerism.

In 2007, AmerGen and TMI employees combined to contribute $245,000 to local charitable organizations. The station continues these charitable efforts each year.

Highlights of Three Mile Island's philanthropic efforts include:

  • AmerGen and Three Mile Island employees contributed $141,778 to the 2007 Capital Region and Lancaster United Way campaigns.
  • Three Mile Island raised $58,600 for the Londonderry Township Fire Company through its 2007 TMI Charity Golf Tournament.
  • Contributed $10,000 in 2007 to the Lower Dauphin Communities That Care organization to enable a Bookmobile to serve youngsters in Londonderry, Conewago, East Hanover and South Hanover Townships and Hummelstown Borough.
  • Contributed $5,000 in 2007 to the Royalton Senior Center and volunteered to serve lunch.

Three Mile Island continually contributes to the area's emergency response organizations, including conducting a comprehensive training program for emergency management volunteers in the 10-mile radius of the plant.

TMI also contributes to various youth sports organizations, Middletown High School and many other local organizations and causes. Employees annually donate more than 200 pints of blood to the Central Pennsylvania Blood Bank.
